Sulfonamide-induced hypersensitivity reactions, although uncommon, can be severe. Sulfisoxazole acetyl is an ester of sulfisoxazole, a broad-spectrum sulfanilamide and a synthetic analog of para-aminobenzoic acid (PABA) with antibacterial activity.
